Why we don't offer taster sessions of messy play
Do we offer single sessions for Messy Play?
This is a question we get asked a lot and the short answer is no, please read below for the reasons why!

When we reopened after lockdown it was the perfect time to change things a little and one of the changes was swapping from single sessions to block bookings.

- With messy play it’s impossible to not mix with other children and families. Therefore it makes perfect sense to stay as a set bubble for each block. This means our families are only mixing with the same group of children/parents each week, reducing contact compared to if we had different children in each class. This obviously is a big plus in covid times, and infact is part of our covid risk assessment for our regular sessions. But even in non covid times, its much nicer for families to have a set group each week. The children begin to form friendships, as do our adults too.

- Our classes are not just a gimmick, there is real value in what we offer for your child’s development. For your child to gain any real benefits from messy play, they need to attend for at least 1 block. Our classes have been carefully planned and designed to ensure your children are exposed to a vide variety of multi sensory messy play, over time these experiences will help shape your child’s cognitive development, aswell as improve fine and gross motor skill, coordination, balance and so on! But only attending a single session you'll never see the full impact these experiences have.

- Our classes are “full on Multi Sensory Messy Play” some children need a few sessions to settle in to what we do. If you only came once, you may think it’s just not for your little one, when infact they just needed to observe for a while to suss out what’s what! Think about your usual day to day life, if your child smeared paint all over their bodies you may not react so positively! Therefore in classes, some children need a little bit of time to understand that they can behave and act in a certain way. Also, it’s quite likely your child may not have really experienced full multi sensory messy play before, some of our textures and sensations may need to be acclimatised to! This really can’t happen in just 1 session and can take some children a few weeks before they understand and are happy to fully experience the wonderful world of Messy Play!

We would love you to join us and experience what we offer. It an feel like an expense or gamble trying a new class, so we always try to keep our blocks small (between 5 - 7 weeks).
Hopefully this helps to understand why we don’t offer single sessions. Messy Play is not just our job, it is our passion, with you and your children right at the heart.
